California and the Plains States experienced moderate levels of ozone and PM2.5 today. Ozone reached up to unhealthy levels for sensitive groups in Kansas and stayed in the good to moderate range in the Rocky Mountains and also in the Southeast states.
We could also observe some haze over California with MODIS Terra true color image (bottom, left) and OMI shows elevated tropospheric NO2 concentrations over the Mid-Atlantic and the Great Lakes States, specially over Detroit, MI, around Chicago, IL and also across Indiana. The rest of the country enjoyed good to moderate air quality.
Some fires were observed in Kansas.
