Today, levels of PM 2.5 were in the moderate range for southern California, as well as Texas and parts of the Gulf coast region in the United States (below left, courtesy EPA AIRNow). Ozone levels were moderate in New Jersey and the area stretching from Oklahoma to western North Carolina (below right, courtesy EPA AIRNow).

Below is a satellite image of a fire near Bolder Colorado. According to the Incident Information System, the fire is 3,500 acres in size. This image clearly shows a well defined area of smoke trailing from the fire (below left, courtesy MODIS Rapid Response System). Below to the right is an image of the smoke that has been detected according to NOAA's Hazard Mapping System. As can be seen, not much smoke has been found under that system. The only smoke found has been from what looks like the fire in Colorado.
