Moderate PM2.5, Ozone, AOD and Above Average Temperatures Along the Great Lakes and Mid-Atlantic Regions

PM2.5 levels (top left, courtesy AIRNow) reached Code Orange (Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups)   in Pennsylvania as the Great Lakes and Mid-Atlantic regions experienced Code Yellow (Moderate) levels. Temperatures in the regions have been unseasonably high, with temperatures extending over 20F above normal temperatures today. As a result of the high temperatures, Code Yellow ozone levels were reported in western Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio. OMI NRT tropospheric NO2 levels (top right) in these regions were moderate to high. The MODIS AQUA AOD map (IDEA, bottom left) reports moderate AOD levels in Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, and New Jersey. Moderate AOD levels were also reported in South Dakota and Nebraska.
