Moderate AQI Levels Continue in California

) were observed in throughout the day in southern California, with Code Orange (Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups) ozone levels observed around 2:00 AM EDT. Code Yellow ozone levels were observed throughout the Great Lakes and South regions. NOAA

Image of the day comes from southern Siberia in Russia. Smoke from fires was observed by MODIS
Aqua satellite on May 7, 2012. Heavy winds, dry conditions, and no rain in the forecast are helping the the fires spread throughout the region. Most of the wild fires in this region are caused by human activity (agricultural or camping fires). Over 300 people have been deployed the fire.
