Moderate levels of PM2.5 and ozone were observed all across the US today (top, left). In terms of ozone (top, right), moderate levels were observed in the Mid-Atlantic/Northeast regions throughout the afternoon. In Southern California many stations measured unhealthy levels for sensitive groups (code orange).
Elevated AOD (bottom, left - MODIS, Aqua) values were observed over Montana, the Dakotas and Wyoming and also across borders with Canada. Fires were most likely the cause for these high values, according to the smoke analysis from the HMS team at NOAA (bottom, right).
