Updates on Idaho/Montana air quality
Once again, good part of the nation enjoyed good air quality today while the Pacific Northwest region continues to observe unhealthy PM2.5 levels (top, left). MODIS Terra shows an extensive area covered by smoke from central Idaho and throughout Montana (top, right).

Daily reports and forecast of air quality in Idaho can be followed on the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality website. The forecast for Salmon, ID is of code orange for tomorrow. Please refer to the link above for information on burning bans.
Below are the PM2.5 concentrations in some selected Idaho cities from AIRNow-Tech since July 1st of this year showing a 10 to 30-fold increase in concentration. The approximate location of the monitors is overlayed with the MODIS image above.
