Air quality conditions follow seasonal fall pattern
A quiet air quality story continues this week, with Code Green (Good) surface Ozone measured throughout the United States. In terms of PM2.5, scattered Code Yellow (Moderate) and a few Code Orange (Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups) AQI were recorded through the Plain States and southern California (top left & right, courtesy AIRNow). The HMS Fire and Smoke analysis team did not report any smoke across the United States today, even through numerous fires continue to burn in North Dakota, likely of agriculture origin (bottom left). This afternoon's MODIS Terra pass indicates slightly elevated AOD through the Plain states, however cloud contamination makes it difficult to detect (bottom, right).
