Air quality stayed within moderate levels with respect to PM2.5 in the Midwest (surrounding the Great Lakes) and in Mississippi Valley. The West coast took a break today, with good levels of PM2.5 throughout most of the states.
MODIS Aqua shows some haziness over the Midwest with elevated values of AOD associated to it, as can be seen below (right). NO2 concentrations were high in the region as well (bottom, left).
Fires were observed in the South and Mississippi Valley, as well as in the Pacific Northwest and British Columbia, Canada. HMS also reported some blowing dust this evening over portions of eastern New Mexico and the Texas Panhandle and extending northeast into the Oklahoma Panhandle and western portions of Kansas and also over south central Arizona and extending northeast into northeastern portions of Arizona.
