MOderate AQI in eastern USA on Thanksgiving day

Happy Thanksgiving!

Moderate PM2.5 concentrations were reached in several station on Thanksgiving day. Most of the eastern states experienced moderate levels for different periods of times. The great lakes region reached unhealthy levels for sensitive groups (top left). In addition, California moderate levels were also reported in California. OMI Tropospheric site reported high NO2 levels in the Great Lakes region as well (top right). HMS reported numerous sugar cane agricultural fires south of Lake Okeechobee that are leading to small puffs of smoke that have culminated into a larger area of thin smoke that is moving south across Central South FL into the eastern Everglades (bottom left). Fires were also seen in the Mississippi Valley and in western Canada. Ozone levels were good over the nation throughout the day (bottom right).
