Unhealthy PM2.5 and Ozone continue in West; Elevated AOD in Southeast

The poor air quality trend in the Pacific Northwest, Southwest, and Rocky mountain states continues, with Moderate, Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups and Unhealthy AQI levels recorded yet again today (top left, courtesy AIRNow). The High Pressure weather pattern inducing calm and chaotic winds also persists across the region (top right). The worst conditions, climbing into the triple digits, were reached for both PM 2.5 (middle left) and surface ozone (middle right) in northeast Utah. Elsewhere, Moderate PM2.5 AQI was recorded in parts of Florida and Georgia alongside elevated AOD and fires across the southeast (bottom left). Today's NAAPS forecast also hints at smoke across this region, forecasting high Surface Smoke Concentrations (bottom right).
