Relatively good air quality in the US

Today was a quiet day in terms of air pollution in the US. The trend of moderate to unhealthy PM2.5 concentrations continue in the West but overall, much better compared to the conditions a week ago. As we can see in the AIRNow animation below (left), code red was only spotted in the California/Oregon border for a few hours in the morning. Moderate conditions were predominant in Central California in the San Joaquin Valley as usual, and also in Utah. With respect to the Central and Eastern portion of the US, despite the fires reported by the HMS team (right image) in the Southeastern states, air quality remained in the good range throughout the day.
