Scattered Moderate PM2.5 conditions over snowed-in Northeast and Pacific Northwest

The nation's worst air quality conditions in terms of PM2.5 were scattered across the Northeast juxtaposed to the swath of snow dumped from the weekend Nor'easter (top, left). Thanks to high pressure building in behind the system and clearing up the skies, MODIS Terra's snapshot just after the storm passed shows snow across the landscape with remarkable precision (minus a few high clouds) (top right). For the rest of the nation air quality remained in the good range, except across the Pacific Northwest which also experienced Moderate conditions with Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups conditions near Klamath Falls, Oregon (bottom left). Finally elevated AOD were observed again today consist with last week, which could be related to an area of unknown aerosols (bottom right).
