Air quality was pretty good today in many parts of the US, compared to the trend we've been observing during this winter season. Code orange for PM2.5 was only briefly observed in Eastern Utah and Western Montana while moderate levels were observed mainly in the Southeastern states, Southern California, Central Plains and around the Idaho/Montana border. The HMS team reported no significant areas of fire, smoke or dust today.
In terms of satellite imagery, clouds were covering most of the US which hinders most observations in the visible channels, as can be seen in both MODIS Terra and Aqua images below.
