The Air Quality over the United States includes many patches of code yellow (moderate air quality). This patches expanded during the day, and covered much the Mississippi Rive r Valley, Ohio River Valley, and Mid Atlantic states. Most of California was cover covered by a code yellow as well. A large patch of code red and code orange was observed in Idaho, likely associate with the wildfires in that state.
The HMS image shows smoke continues to blanket much of the North American Continent, particularly the central regions. HMS shows the fires in Idaho continuing to burn, and likely contributing to the large area of smoke cover. A few fires also burn in northern California and in the lower Mississippi River Valley.
