AirNow reported today similar Air Quality conditions as those reported during the last days. Moderate PM2.5 concentration levels in the eastern states and California (top left). HMS on the other hand did not detect significant fires in the US (top right). Only a light smoke plume was visible intermixed with clouds in extreme northern Alberta lifting northward into the Northwest Territories. This remnant smoke is likely due to some fires in British Columbia. Also, a plume of blowing dust was observed originating from Honey Lake in northeast California near Susanville. The narrow plume was moving to the east and crossed into Nevada moving north. High AOD levels from unknown aerosols were retrieved by MODIS over several regions throughout the day (bottom).
