The high AQI noted by Graham on Friday continued on Saturday in the LA basin. AQI levels reached the Code Orange or Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups range in LA. Moderate AQI is seen throughout the entire Northwest although the region is covered by widespread low cloud and fog. I just returned from Victoria BC and the fog was dense for the first half of the week but would break during the day. In Vancouver BC, however, the fog (right panel below) remained socked in all day and shut down float plane traffic for much of the week. Below those panels, the code orange in Idaho is probably due to the fire plume seen near Elk River Idaho. This fire has not been identified by USDA at this point.
