Fires Along Texas Coastline; Unhealthy PM2.5 AQI in Oregon

Today's Airnow animation shows PM2.5 concentrations ranging between Code Yellow to Red in Oregon, while California experienced Yellow and Orange AQIs. The PM2.5 timeseries shown is for air quality monitors in the state of Oregon. Particle pollution concentrations ranged between 5-137 ug/m3. Clouds over Oregon hindered satellite AOD retrievals. AOD retrievals from MODIS Aqua over California show that particle pollution reached values no greater than 0.3. NOAA HMS reported a large plume of light density smoke moving westward of Southern California offshore into the Pacific Ocean. The smoke originated from a wildfire located east in Sequoia National Forest, CA. RGB images over Texas show smoke and fires along the Gulf Coast of Texas
