Code Yellow PM2.5 AQI throughout the Nation; Cluster of fires in Florida

Code yellow air quality was observed today throughout the Pacific North/Southwest, Great Lakes, Southern Plains, Mid-Atlantic and Northeast today,peaking for PM2.5 in Code Orange, Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups, along the northeast New York/ Vermont border as well as in southern California (top left). In terms of aerosol optical depth, today's MODIS overpass indicated slightly elevated values in the San Joaquin valley (top right). According to the HMS analysis team, there were no areas of significant smoke across the United States. Albeit, a cluster of fires in the Southern Plains and throughout Florida were observed (bottom left). Finally, MODIS "True Color" imagery from the Terra satellite illustrates the behemoth snow footprint left behind after last weeks winter storm (bottom right).
