Heavy to light remnant smoke (top right image) from Alaska's Funny Fire was captured in today's satellite retrievals, according to the analysis of NOAA's Hazard Mapping System Fire and Smoke Product, as the fires persist. According to INCIWEB, the interagency all-risk incident web information management system by the United States Forest Service, the fire covers about 183,294 acres with 30% of them contained. The smoke is yielding AOD values in the range of 0.2 to 0.5.
Regarding air quality PM2.5 concentrations reached Code Yellow (Moderate) AQI levels. In California ozone concentrations reached Moderate AQI levels, as a high pressure was responsible for the warm up and stagnant conditions that enhance its formation.
