A few spots in northern California and north-central Washington work their way up to Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups around noon before dropping back to Moderate by around three. The GASP East AOD loop, shown below on the right, indicates a plume of elevated AODs working down from Canada toward the Great Lakes and Mid-Atlantic.

The HMS fire and smoke image, below left, suggests that the smoke covering much of the area around the U.S.-Canada border, additionally extending north to the Hudson Bay region and south to the Mid-Atlantic and through the Pacific Northwest. Many of these areas are visible in the MODIS Terra image below right, with an expanse of gray over the Great Lakes and another in northern California.
