Fort McMurray Fires in Canada Continue to Burn

The Fort McMurray fires in Alberta, Canada continue to burn with 25,000 residents safely evacuated, according to the Government of Alberta. Smoke covers Saskatchewan and Manitoba in Canada, eastern Montana, North Dakota, Wisconsin, central US and the mid-Atlantic states. The top left image is today's NOAA's Hazard Mapping System Fire and Smoke Product showing the locations where smoke was detected by satellites. The AOD retrievals associated with this smoke plume is ranging between 0.4-1.0 (top right image). As expected the smoke is impacting the surface air quality with monitors reporting AQI levels in the Code Purple range (Airnow animation).

The urls in the onclick handler for a couple of the images are incorrect.

Right click->view image works fine.
