POTENTIAL HAZARDOUS PM LEVELS IN WEST

Observing the AirNow PM AQI map (left) shows an area of hazardous pm levels on the California, Nevada border. Whether these measurements are accurate, or simply a glitch, is currently unknown. The gradual increase shown by pm loop provides evidence that the measurements are real, but the fact that there is no coverage of these conditions on California or Nevada's news as points towards the measurements being a result of a glitch. Besides this situation air quality seemed quite good today. Smoke activity was relatively nonexistent, and ozone levels remained low as well (weather.gov, right)

If you google "Emerald Fire" and "Little Valley Fire," there is extensive local news coverage of these two fires in the Reno-Tahoe area (CA-NV border). The Emerald Fire is on the west shore of Lake Tahoe (CA) and the Little Valley Fire, the larger of the two, is north of Carson City (NV). In the week prior, there were also multiple controlled burns in this area.
