Mid-Atlantic and Plain States Fires

As seen in the AirNow image below (top left), a lot of the AQI observed today was concentrated over central plain states and stretching from the Southeast to Northern Mid-Atlantic States. Fires were observed along the Eastern coast and scattered smoke plumes were detected throughout the day, however, because of heavy cloud coverage, much of the data from satellite imagery could not be collected. Dense and heavy fires were seen more West with smoke and fires stretching and spreading North and Northeast (HMS, top right). Evacuations of schools and communities took place in eastern Kentucky and East. A moderately dense amount of dust was seen travelling through the Pacific southwest as seen in the Copernicus image below (bottom).
