Smoke in the Gulf Coast Region and Dust in the Atlantic

Ongoing seasonal burning created dense smoke over the Gulf of Mexico region and plume can be viewed mixed with some clouds in the Aqua image (top right). Although there was a moderately dense smoke, PM levels observed by AirNow around the country was still relatively low (top right). AQI in the US was reported to be generally good, but there was a few spikes within the Mississippi valley states (NOAA Idea, bottom left). Saharan Dust was observed over the Atlantic, which was later reported to travel into southern Texas, Mississppi, and Western Tennessee.
