HEAVY SMOKE IN FLORIDA/GEORGIA BORDER; HAZARDOUS AQI IN ARIZONA

The HMS image (top left) from Saturday shows heavy smoke at the Florida/Georgia border. This smoke comes from the West Mims fire; low humidity and strong winds made conditions ideal for smoke production. The plume from this fire is visible in the NASA WorldView image (top right). Sundays HMS image (bottom left) shows The West Mims fire slowly dispersing as well as some moderate density smoke being carried over the Bay of Campeche from seasonal burns in the Yucatan Peninsula. AirNow AQI loop (bottom right) shows that particulate matter AQI reached hazardous conditions in Arizona.
