Remnant Smoke and Ozone

Today was a very clear day with minimal levels of Air Quality observed throughout the nation. Ozone was concentrated in the Northern Plain states and Great Lakes region. Also, Ozone was observed in the Pacific Southwest region of the nation as seen in the AirNow image below (left). It is believed that remnant smoke from agricultural fires in Canada made its way across the Great Lakes region and had contributed to the elevated Ozone levels. As well, fires in northern Arizona and Utah had produced thin to moderately dense smoke in the region that was present for the remainder of the day (HMS, right). These fires are believed to have contributed to the elevated levels of Ozone.
