Remnant Smoke in Gulf of Mexico and Wildfires Continue in Pacific Southwest

Light density smoke was observed extending over west of Florida Keys southwest into the Gulf of Mexico due to fire activity in Mexico, which could lead to smoke extending to even southern Texas (NOAA, top left). The Snake Ridge Fire in Arizona generated remnant smoke which covered a substantial region within the state, and progressed eastward towards New Mexico (Modis Aqua, top left). Overrall AirNow reported AQI which was moderate across most states, but was in the code orange in California, New Mexico, and Texas (bottom left).
