Low PM 2.5 and Ozone

Air quality today was not very good, as there was a large amount of Code Yellow (Moderate) PM 2.5 seen in many different parts of the nation, as seen in AirNow's PM 2.5map, top left. The PM 2.5 was mostly spread across the Mississippi Valley, the Mid-Atlantic, the Rocky Mountain States, and the Great Lakes region. There was smoke seen in the Northwest, but it doesn't seem to have affected the air quality there very much (NOAA, top right). Ozone levels were much better than PM 2.5 levels, with CCode Yellow appearing mostly along the West coast. However, there was some Code Orange and Code Red (Unsafe for Sensitive Groups and Unsafe, respectively) seen in California (NOAA, bottom left). However, the elevated ozone in California quickly dissipated.
